WEDNESDAY MARCH 6

Woke at 5:30. Went to the Shrine. Was gorgeous, with the rising sun shining over it. A great way to start one's day, in prayer at a holy place. Loved it.

Overlooking the Med Sea at dawn.

The Pilgrim House with the rising sun shining on it.

Then we bussed to Akka where the Founder of the Baha'i Faith was imprisoned/exiled for 2 years and 2 months and 5 days. We went inside and saw His cell. It was quite an experience.
The above is the sea entrance where He and His family were sent. And below, is the land entrance. The history is amazing.
Our tour guide. She's from MN.

We were allowed to take pictures inside, but not in the prison cell itself. Very sad to think of this man and His family stuck in that horrible prison.

Above is the skylight that Bahaullah's son fell through to the floor below.

Bahaullah asked His son if he wanted Bahaullah to save him, but he said no. He wanted his life to be a sacrifice for better treatment for his family. He then died. After the townspeople heard what happened, the authorities gave them better treatment.

The 2 top windows, far right, are the windows of Bahaullah's cell. A moat surrounded it. Pilgrims walked from Persia to see Him but authorities wouldn't allow it, so He would wave out those windows with a white handkerchief.

The above is the sign "Baha'i Holy Place" of the door to the house where Baha'u'llah and His family were sent when the city needed the prison rooms for soldiers moving in. We went inside the house but were not allowed to take pictures. While inside, at ten minutes to noon, we heard the haunting call to prayer for the Muslims.

After we left the prison, we bussed to the Shrine of Bahaullah and ate our picnic lunch at the reception center and had tea.

We bussed back to Haifa and walked to the grocery store and saw this sign.

Emily walked up the steps fom Ben Gurion Avenue to the Shrine of the Bab!
