SATURDAY MARCH 9

Well, today was Sabbath. Actually, it began yesterday at 1pm. Many things closed. Just a few buses running. Beautiful weather. Sunny, mild breeze, but cool in the evening.
Today we could choose what to do. The 3 of us went to the Pilgrim House and then walked down to our little grocery store we frequent. The Pilgrim House has refrigerators to store food. Here is our little grocery store.

Cars park on the sidewalks here.

Here are some of the pilgrims. Norfi from Jamaica, Jennifer from St. Cloud, Mn, and another lady.

This lady is from Germany. Homeita.

We got a key and went across the street to the beautiful Monument Gardens.
Approaching the Gardens.

The resting place of Baha'u'llah's daughter.

Below is the resting place of Baha'u'llah's son's (Abdul Baha) wife.

These 2 are the resting places of Baha'u'llah's wife on the left (Navaab) and his son who fell through the prison roof and passed away at the age of about 22.

Here are pictures in the Monument Gardens.

Then we taxied to the "Temple Land." The Baha'is have purchased land on Mt. Carmel to build a Baha'i temple there. Years ago, all the land on Mt. Carmel was barren. The Baha'is have beautified the land as was prophesied, with the Shrine of the Bab and the upcoming temple and all their other land there.
"The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it; the splendor of CARMEL and Sharon; they will see the GLORY OF THE LORD, the splendor of our God." Isaiah 35:1-2 (
the name Baha'u'llah means Glory of the Lord in Persian)

This is the marker for the temple.

This symbol means "Most Glorious Name."

The grounds are quite pretty. It's a beautiful sight, very top of Mt. Carmel.

Then we walked to find Elijah's cave. Discovered you have to take a cable car to get down there and it was expensive and getting late so we didn't. Here's the cable car.

Saw this there and had to take a picture of it in honor of my mother Millie. Millie's Beauty Spot. Just a small marker by the water.
